adult programs

With one in five adults suffering from some type of mental illness, Riverbend strives to meet the needs of those adults through a variety of methods and programs.

Day Programs

Riverbend offers several day programs for adults designed to assist the client in reaching a point of stabilization. Day programs traditionally include physician services, communication skills building, medication management, independent living skills, stress management, recreational therapy, alcohol and drug awareness. In addition, these programs include individual, family and group therapy sessions.

Residential Programs

The goal for clients involved in Riverbend's Residential program is to become equipped to live independently in the community. Emphasis is placed on gaining a better understanding on his/her diagnosis, need for psychotropic medication, and training in social and independent living skills.

Outpatient Counseling

Riverbend provides services on an outpatient basis to those clients who present with psychiatric, substance use, and behavioral problems, which require diagnostic evaluation and/or treatment. Individual and group therapy are offered to clients in addition to psycho-educational groups. Treatment may include coordination with family, schools, physicians, and other agencies as appropriate.

Outreach Services

Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) is an intensive community based program in which a multidisciplinary team provides treatment, rehabilitation, and support to consumers with serious mental illness and serious functional impairment. The ACT Team is the primary provider of services to the consumers and is responsible for assisting the consumers in all aspects of community living. The majority of services are provided in the community where the consumers live and spend their time.

In-Home Intervention utilizes a time-limited model to provide intensive home-based services to adult consumers who are 18 years of age or above. The primary purpose of this service is to prevent displacement including hospitalization, defuse an immediate crisis situation, and to stabilize psychiatric symptoms.

Case Management services are designed to link consumers with necessary community support systems when the consumer is unable to do so in order to improve their chances of recovery and successful community living.

Substance use Programs

Riverbend provides intensive outpatient treatment for substance use. This program consists of twelve hours weekly of service based upon the twelve-step and medical models of treatment. In addition to traditional substance use group therapy, both individual and family therapies are required, as is attendance at Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous meetings.

Riverbend also provides an aftercare program for clients who have successfully completed our outpatient program. For the dually-diagnosed client, psychiatric services are available as appropriate from Riverbend's psychiatric services program.

Sunrise Lodge is our residential treatment facility for male substance users. Through this program, clients participate in group, individual, and family therapy as well as community self help groups, study groups, chemical dependency education, and skill building related to issues such as family, self-esteem, and stress management.
